It's a beautiful day... and I got cat-called for walking around with an ice cream cone. I'm not offended or anything, I just dunno why... maybe it's somehow vulgar in Danish society to walk around licking something. But these two guys were like, "Tastes good?!" in Danish, and some other guy I think called me a whore. Hmm. Interesting.

Danish quirk: Today is sort of like Labor Day for the Danes, so craziness is out in full force. Shouting, flag waving, carnival food and games, and drunken Danes stumbling through the cobblestone streets with bottles of Carlsberg. Unfortunately I was in class/writing a paper all day, so I missed the best stuff. But I did see two guys sort of half-singing, half-moaning Elvis songs on the street corner. One had his hair in a black pompadour and played some strings strung up and down a garden rake. The other had a black wig askew on his head and strummed on a guitar. Both looked like they were having a wonderful time.

Update: Just got back from a weekend on the little Danish island of Bornholm. I biked about 40-something miles this weekend, all around the island. Yesterday we rode to the southernmost tip, where there are white beaches that stretch forever, with mountains of sand and patches of forest everywhere. The water was so clear you could see to the bottom of the ocean, the Baltic Sea. I had an ice cream cone that was about two feet tall and topped with a little Danish flag (the Danes put flags absolutely everywhere). And I hiked along some cliffs and into a tiny little cave about a person wide. If I could stop wishing my life away, everything would be perfect.
